FilePathCM is a contextual menu and menu bar item for copying the:
- POSIX path
- Server afp URL
- Abbreviated (Tilde) POSIX path
- POSIX path for Terminal.app
- HFS path
- Full name
- Display name
- Extension
- Windows style path
of Finder items (files, folders, volumes) to the clipboard.
It can also be used for creating URLs from file paths, such as AFP type URLs. This is achieved using "prefixes" which are simply prepended to a URL encoded version of a POSIX path.
To Install the Contextual Menu: Place the plugin into your "Contextual Menu Items" folder located in your Library folder, creating it if necessary:
/Library/Contextual Menu Items/FilePathCM.plugin
Then logout and back into your account to load the plugin.
To Install the Preference Pane: Place the preference pane into your "PreferencePanes" folder located in your Library folder, creating it if necessary:
/Library/PreferencePanes/FilePathCM.prefPane
(Note: You can also use the corresponding folders of your Home Library.)
To Use: Control-click on a selection of files and folders in the Finder and select a command from the "FilePath" menu item, as shown:

To Create Prefixes: Prefixes can be defined in one of two ways: You can use the supplied system preference pane FilePathCM.prefPane, or you can place a text file named "Prefixes.txt" in the resources folder of the contextual menu items bundle, putting one prefix per line.
Note that the contextual menu items names will match the associated prefix.
A sample prefix would be: "afp://10.0.1.2", or "afp://Pascal.local"
Preferences:The preference pane is used for configuring the behavior and contents of the contextual menu:
